Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the three available classes and how do I choose the right one?
The three classes differ in thickness and working voltage rating: Class 0 (3 mm) covers up to 1,000 V, Class 2 (4 mm) up to 17,000 V and Class 4 (5 mm) up to 36,000 V. Your choice depends on the voltage level present in the work area: if you are unsure, we recommend checking with your electrical safety officer and contacting us for advice.
How can I quickly identify the class of the matting on site or in a switchgear room?
A clearly visible colour code is printed on the underside of the matting at every linear metre: red for Class 0, yellow for Class 2 and orange for Class 4. This system rules out any risk of confusion during day-to-day use.
Can the matting be used in areas where oil, acid or moisture is present?
COBAswitch is resistant to acids, oils and greases at low temperatures and has been successfully tested in contact with transformer oil and sulphuric acid solution. It is, however, designed for dry indoor environments, so it is not recommended for use where standing water is present or in wet areas.
What sizes are available and can it be made to measure?
The matting is available in standard sizes of 1×1 m, 1×2 m and 1×5 m, as well as 10 m rolls with a width of 100 cm, which can be cut to the length you need. For special requirements, please contact us directly and we will look at the available options with you.
How is COBAswitch cleaned and maintained over time?
Cleaning is straightforward: simply use water and a mild detergent or a pressure washer. The matting is loose-laid without adhesive, which also makes it easy to move when cleaning the floor underneath.
